😲 (astonished face) is the plain shocked face: wide eyes, open mouth, no judgement. 😮 (face with open mouth) is a softer gasp, often just “oh!”. 😳 (flushed face) is shock mixed with embarrassment, the one for “I can’t believe you said that”. 😱 (face screaming in fear) is dramatic horror; its design on most platforms echoes Munch’s The Scream, and it is used far more for comic exaggeration than for real fear.
