What the clap emoji means
π (clapping hands) is applause: congratulations, βwell doneβ, appreciation for a performance. It has two famous variants. The slow clap β π sent alone in reply to something dumb β is sarcasm. And π between π every π word π is emphatic, sometimes lecturing, a style that peaked on Twitter and now reads as slightly dated. All five skin tones are available.
Usually a sarcastic slow clap, unless it follows something genuinely praiseworthy. Three or more claps read as sincere.
